Renowned St. Louis Jazz Vocalist Denise Thimes and Mr. Johnny Furr Jr., then Vice President of Community Affairs at the Anheuser- Busch Companies, initially started the Mildred Thimes Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer ("The Foundation") in 2012.
The foundation was named in honor of Denise's mother, Mrs. Mildred Thimes, who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer in 1997, a time when doctors knew little about this specific kind of cancer. Denise serves as the foundation's executive director as the foundation executive director with a 15-member board.
